The factory will manufacture precast concrete elements designed in accordance with digital construction standards. Its 45 employees will initially produce 2,000 homes per year. EMC and ist partners are investing 46 million euros in the plant, which is scheduled to start operating in early 2020.
The state's Minister for Economic Affairs, Wolfgang Tiefensee, emphasized that the plant's highly automated production processes combine construction and digitization and make the facility a pioneer of the digital construction industry. It provides the basis for the industrial production of high-quality living space at reasonable prices. We can also expect this new factory to drive the digitization of the construction industry in Thuringia.
It already cooperates with the Thuringian Competence Center Industry 4.0 and with the Institute for Applied Building Research (IAB) located in Weimar.
Thuringia managed to prevail over several other regions competing to be chosen as location for EMC's new production facility.
