The “Trendatlas Thüringen 2020” study confirms that many Thuringia companies are already involved in green technology markets like sustainable water management and environmental services, sustainable mobility, efficient use of energy, materials and commodities, and energy storage.
The fine detail involved and the high degree of specialization of companies in the various segments of this sector means that there is no overarching identity as the “Thuringian green technology sector”, even though there are around 450 companies with more than 11,400 employees, plus a large number of research institutes, that develop energy and resource-efficient solutions. These include EAW Energieanlagenbau and EPC Engineering Consulting, both of which are active internationally in the development of high-efficiency machinery and plant. In the water and environmental services market, EuRec Recycling Machines and Schulz Berger Luft- und Verfahrenstechnik have made a name for themselves as suppliers of innovative sorting and separation technology. ThEGA has been the central contact point for all matters relating to green technology in Thuringia since 2011. (gro)
