In the future, the Thuringian Digital Agency in Erfurt will serve as a “think tank for topic of digitization,” states Minister of Economic Affairs Wolfgang Tiefensee. The newly founded agency will take over for the previous point of contact – the Breitband Competence Center – in regards to issues concerning digitization and broadband expansion. Its main tasks include expanding broadband, implementing the Thuringian Digital Strategy, and launching new digital initiatives and projects. It will also develop ideas on how to better utilize digital infrastructure for businesses, educational institutions, and citizens. The Digital Agency, which has twelve employees, will receive annual funding of approx. 1.36 million euros from the Thuringian Ministry for Economic Affairs. (boe)
