Jena - The e-commerce sector is to get its own center for ideas and start-ups in the region. In August, TowerByte e.G. – a consortium of 24 Thuringia software companies supported by Thuringia’s Ministry of Economic Affairs – announced the establishment of an ‘Campus E-Commerce’, which will provide sites for companies and start-ups. “E-commerce has become one of the leading sectors in the Jena region,” says Undersecretary of Economics Jochen Staschewski. More than 2,500 people work in Jena for about 70 companies, representing 5 per cent of the city’s total workforce.
Erfurt - asola Technologies GmbH has developed an innovative car roof solar module and been commissioned by one of the world’s leading automobile manufacturers to develop a prototype. The roof construction, for which a patent application is under way, is easy to install in electric and hybrid vehicles to make supplying them with energy even more environmentally friendly.
