Berlin/Jena - Jena researcher Professor Stefan Nolte (Friedrich Schiller University and Fraunhofer Institute of Applied Optics and Precision Engineering (IOF), Jena) and his colleagues Dr. Jens König (Bosch) and Dr. Dirk Sutter (Trumpf) were awarded the 2013 German Future Prize for their work developing ultra-short pulse lasers. The new laser removes quickly and precisely tiny areas measuring just a few millionths of a millimeter without heating them; the vaporized material is simply sucked away. Even fine structures can be engraved on the head of a match without igniting it.
Sünna - In mid-2013, Duo Plast AG opened DuoLab, the German Technology Center for the Securing of Cargo and Transport at its premises in Thuringia. The center’s state-of-the-art testing technology is used by freight forwarders, appraisers and logistics specialists to test, certify and further develop the safety of packaging materials. Thus, the logistics process will become safer for all the people, goods and modes of transport involved and prevent loss and damage.
