Rückblick auf Gegenwärtiges (Looking Back on the Present) is the title of a two-
part exhibition mounted by Klassik Stiftung Weimar and the City of Weimar about Weimar-born contemporary artist Walter Sachs and his life’s work, on the occasion of his 60th birthday. Sachs’ works stand in a close relationship of tradition and history and deal with literary and philosophical ideas from many periods of history. Amongst the hundred or so works created since the 1980s that will be on display until 29 June are 46 sculptures made of a huge variety of materials, works in paper, and drawings in charcoal, pen and ink and even plume and ink, as well as sample book illustrations.
