Two factory buildings, covering an area of 42.000 m² each, will be added to the production area to accommodate the future assembly activities, providing sufficient space for manufacturing the new Mercedes-Benz engines. “We’re really looking forward to having such large facilities here at MDC Power. Our staff are highly enthusiastic about assembling the new generation of four-cylinder diesel engines in Kölleda,” says Managing Director Dr Sven Breitschwerdt.
For Minister of Economic Affairs, Matthias Machnig, the planned extension is further confirmation of Thuringia’s appeal to investors: “When an international group like Daimler produces the key component of its premium vehicles in Thuringia, that really makes a statement about the location. This investment is a fresh reminder that Thuringia is a very attractive and competitive place to do business.” Construction of the new factory buildings will begin later this year. (kö)
