Every summer for 20 years, the DomStufen-Festspiele in Erfurt have drawn opera lovers to a very special experience: a performance by the city’s theater of a work by a major composer on the steps of Erfurt Cathedral, against the fabulous background of the Cathedral and the St. Severi church.
This year, from 4 to 21 July, the program features Giacomo Puccini’s ‘Turandot’, the love story of a Chinese princess. The conductor will be Samuel Bächli. Younger festival-goers will enjoy a musical, ‘Till Eulenspiegel’, about a legendary medieval
prankster. (kö)
