Throughout the state, in the context of the theme “Wandel wird Kulturlandschaft” (“Change becomes a cultural landscape”), models will be developed for ideas that set the standard for a sustainable way of life, taking into account the move to renewable energy, demographic change and sociocultural and financial processes of change.
“The IBA is a ‘laboratory for the future’ that will move Thuringia forward and do a brilliant job of showcasing our state in Germany and the wider world,” said Christian Carius, Thuringia’s Minister of Construction, Regional Development and Transport, at the opening ceremony. The IBA Thüringen will operate by means of decentralized workshops, aiming for a high level of cooperation with tertiary institutes in the region so that experts in science and technology will be closely involved.
