Object
(1) The Bank is responsible in particular for the tasks of a Central Savings Bank, a Municipal Bank and a State Bank in the Länder of Hesse, Thuringia and North Rhine-Westphalia, as well as the tasks of a municipal and a state bank in the Länder of Hesse and Thuringia. The Bank may also assume bank central bank functions in other countries. 2. As a central bank of savings banks, the Bank shall, in particular, manage the liquidity resources of the savings banks in the countries referred to in paragraph 1 by means of an appropriate investment policy and provide the savings banks with appropriate liquidity credits. Furthermore, in cooperation with the savings banks, it is the business of the association. (3) As a municipal and state bank, the Bank shall provide banking operations for municipalities and associations of municipalities, the Länder of Hesse and Thuringia, other bodies, institutions and foundations governed by public law, as well as companies close to them, and shall assist them in the performance of their business activities. 4. The Bank may assume fiduciary and public funding responsibilities for the Länder of Hesse and Thuringia and other public administration bodies. In the field of public support, in particular housing and urban development, the economy, agriculture and environmental protection, the tasks are carried out by the business areas established at the Bank in Hesse and Thuringia in accordance with Article 8(4) of the State Treaty establishing a joint savings bank organisation Hessen-Thüringen. Sections 24 to 28 (5) The bank operates a building society, in particular in the states of Hesse and Thuringia, in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Building Savings Banks under the designation "Landesbausparkasse Hessen-Thüringen" as a legally independent institution. A separate annual financial statement and a management report must be drawn up for the building society. 6. The Bank may conduct banking operations of any kind and other services and transactions in the credit sector, provided that banking and other services and transactions serve, directly or indirectly, the purpose of the Bank. In this context, it may enter into shareholdings, create its own independent facilities and acquire and sell built-up and undeveloped land and rights of the same property. (7) The Bank is entitled to issue Pfandbriefe in accordance with the provisions of the Pfandbrief Act and other bonds. 8. As part of its tasks, the Bank may enter into memberships of associations and other organisations. (9) The Bank's business shall be carried out in accordance with commercial principles. In general, economic considerations must be taken into account and the interests of savings banks and municipalities must be promoted. Taking into account the Bank's public contract, profit is not the main purpose of the business.
